This highly decorated picture plate with multi-coloured birds, pheasants, flowers and gold scrolls is Booths design #B0011. It is believed to date from 1891 because there is an impressed date mark 91, also because this was the year that the word England was added. The word Limited which does not appear on the plate was used from 1898 so the plate was made in the period 1891 to 98. The plate measures 9 inches/23 cm. in diameter and is neither chipped nor cracked. Due to age there is some barely noticeable glaze crazing on the face and some minor age discolouration on the underside. This particular item was made by Booths for the famous Maples (London) retail store. Both company names are printed on this collector’s item. Booths started production in the Staffordshire Potteries town of Tunstall in 1891 making this plate one of their first years output.  CDN$175
